Women Development Cell Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya

Vision: To strengthen society by empowering women.

Mission: To create a women-friendly environment and elevate their position through capacity building.

To provide a safe environment for girls and ensure their holistic development, a Women Development Cell (WDC) has been established in 2012 at KSV. Through this cell, guidance is provided to girls for their physical, mental, social, emotional, and educational development. It provides a platform for dialogue, discussion, and deliberation on women’s rights and gender-related issues through seminars, guest talks, and workshops. It also builds and strengthens partnerships with organizations promoting women’s interests and safety. The cell organizes awareness programs and camps to enhance the skills and capabilities of women for their personal and professional growth. WDC KSV is organizing different activities for 918 female faculties and 18,986 female students of both Gandhinagar and kadi campus.

 Honourable president Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya Shree Vallabh bhai M. Patel sir granted Rs.24,19,106 to conduct the activities of women development cell. 

Women Development Cell presents the “Mahila Gaurav Award” which includes a cash prize of ₹50,000. This award is given to one female student of both Gandhinagar and kadi campus seperatly,  who has shown outstanding performance in academics, co-curricular activities, extracurricular engagements, or has actively participated in various university-run cells. WDC KSV organizes one day picnic for staff .

Theme : Rani Ahilyabai Holkar

The Women Development Cell (WDC) of Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya   organized a vibrant and thought-provoking series of events to honour the life and legacy of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar, one of India’s most revered female rulers. The  activities  aimed to honour contributions  of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar to society, especially highlighting the values, leadership, and reformative vision. Various competitions and exhibitions were held, including essay writing, quiz, poetry, performance arts, and drawing competitions, which encouraged the active participation of school  and college students. An exhibition on the different phases of Rani Ahilyabai’s life and a grand National Women’s Day celebration was also conducted.  These various activities were organized under the guidance of WDC Chairperson Dr. Veenaben Patel and Chief Coordinator Dr. Sunit Leilani. All the WDC coordinators of schools and colleges contributed in organizing these activities for the overall development of the students.

Objective of the theme-based events 

The primary objective of these events was to:

  • Create awareness about Rani Ahilyabai Holkar’s life, leadership, and societal contributions.
  • Encourage students, especially girls, to learn about powerful female role models in Indian history.
  • Provide a platform for creative expression among students through competitions.

List of events done throughout the year

1. Essay Writing Competition

An Essay Writing Competition was organized on 07th August 2024 for students of schools and colleges. The theme of the competition was “Rani Ahilyabai Holkar”, aimed at providing students with an opportunity to demonstrate their writing skills and gain knowledge about the great queen and her contributions.  The essays explored her administrative skills, patronage of architecture and education, and her unwavering commitment to justice. Many essays drew parallels between her progressive policies and the ongoing struggles for women’s rights, making the activity not just a historical exploration but a relevant social commentary. A total of 872 students participated in the event, including 506 from schools and 366 from colleges. The competition targeted students from various educational institutions, encouraging them to express their creativity and analytical skills through their essays.

2. Quiz Competition

A Quiz Competition based on the life of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar was organized on 28th November 2024. The event aimed to enhance students’ knowledge about Rani Ahilyabai Holkar’s life, achievements, and legacy while encouraging them to explore India’s rich heritage.The competition was open to school and college students, with 38 participants actively engaging in the quiz.. The event provided an opportunity for students to test their knowledge, improve their analytical thinking, and develop a deeper appreciation for historical figures.

3. Poetry Competition

A Poetry Writing Competition based on the life of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar was organized on 28th November 2024 by the Women Development Cell, KSV,. The competition aimed to enhance students’ knowledge about Rani Ahilyabai Holkar while fostering creativity, concentration, verbal communication skills, and confidence.Total  24 participants from school and college  showcasing their talent through beautifully composed poems reflecting the life, values, and leadership of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar..The participants performed exceptionally well, demonstrating their creativity and deep understanding of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar’s legacy.

4. Performance Competition

A Performance Competition(School Level)  based on the life of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar was organized on 19th September 2024 by the Women Development Cell, KSV, at Khimji Vishram Hall, Sec-23. The event aimed to educate students about the remarkable life of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar while fostering creativity, communication skills, concentration, teamwork, and confidence among participants.A total of 70 students participated, showcasing their talent and dedication through performances that brought Rani Ahilyabai Holkar’s life and contributions to the stage. The performances were outstanding, providing the audience with a live experience of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar’s journey, values, and leadership. The competition successfully met its objectives, leaving a lasting impact on both participants and audiences.

5. Drawing Competition

 A Drawing  Competition based on the life of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar was organized 

 A drawing competition was organized  on 24th December 2024 to celebrate the life and contributions of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar, the great queen of the Holkar dynasty. The colourful artworks included depictions of the queen’s court, temples commissioned by her, and abstract representations of her strength and benevolence.Total 29 participants of schools and colleges actively taken part in this event .

National Women’s Day Celebration

The National Women’s Day was celebrated on 13th February 2025  with great enthusiasm, commemorating the legacy of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar, one of India’s most revered female rulers. The event aimed to honor her contributions to governance, social reforms, and women’s empowerment while inspiring contemporary generations to follow her path of leadership and service. The event was divided into two parts. First part was exhibition and second part was stage progeam and prize distribution of all the winners of activities conducted throughout the year .  

     Exhibition: “Phases of Life of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar”

The Chief Guest,Dr. Bharatbai Patel ,  Honorable Chairmen KSV Vallabhbhai M Patel Sir  WDC chair Person Dr. Veenaben Patel along with dignitaries inaugurated the Exhibition based on Rani Ahilyabai Holkar  Exhibition showcasing the life of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar through pictures, narratives, quotes, and models was inaugurated as part of the celebration. It was divided into thematic sections—Early Life, Personal Challenges, Leadership Journey, Public Welfare Works, and Lasting Legacy.Artifacts, miniature models of temples and public rest houses, and handwritten notes by students adorned the display area. Visitors expressed that the exhibition deepened their knowledge and respect for Rani Ahilyabai’s contribution to Indian society.

Stage Program 

The event commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing wisdom and knowledge. . This was followed by a keynote address, highlighting her remarkable role in administrative reforms, infrastructure development, and social welfare.

Second and third winners of the  School level performance competition performed on  that day .  Students of C.M Patel college of nursing,  LDRP ITR and BPCBA had also performed .  Trophies and certificates was awarded to the  winner students of the activities conducted throughout the year .  

Celebration of International Women’s Day 

On March 8, 2025, Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya (KSV) in celebrated International Women’s Day at Kadi with a series of events aimed at honoring women’s achievements and promoting gender equality.   Presence of Honorable Chairmen KSV Vallabhbhai M Patel sir , In charge Director KSV Dr. Gargiben Rajpara madam and Chairperson WDC KSV Dr. Veenaben Patel  and members of SVKM makes this event valuable. 

Chief gust of this event was  Mrs.Jimmy Nanda, who was  Gladrags Mrs. India 2007 and Mrs. Universe Runner-up, is a renowned name in fashion and entertainment. 

Two Students one from Gandhinagar campus Miss Nikita Ishwarbhai Desai and one from kadi campus Patel Ritu Kaniyalal   receive Mahila Gaurav award of Rs. 50,000 for their outstanding performances in the university.

    The university’s Women Development Cell played a pivotal role in organizing these activities, which included:

  • Cultural Performances:  Female Faculty members of schools and colleges  showcased performances highlighting women’s contributions to art and culture.
  • Fun activities : WDC organized fun activities like one minute games and Dum-shear    

 

The Women Development Cell (WDC) of Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya successfully conducted a diverse array of activities during 2024–2025, reaching  students and faculty members. From skill development workshops and social awareness seminars to literary events and celebratory functions, every initiative was aligned with the cell’s mission to empower, educate, and engage women in meaningful ways.
