Women Development Cell Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya

Vision: To strengthen society by empowering women.

Mission: To create a women-friendly environment and elevate their position through capacity building.

To provide a safe environment for girls and ensure their holistic development, a Women Development Cell (WDC) has been established in 2012 at KSV. Through this cell, guidance is provided to girls for their physical, mental, social, emotional, and educational development. It provides a platform for dialogue, discussion, and deliberation on women’s rights and gender-related issues through seminars, guest talks, and workshops. It also builds and strengthens partnerships with organizations promoting women’s interests and safety. The cell organizes awareness programs and camps to enhance the skills and capabilities of women for their personal and professional growth. WDC KSV is organizing different activities for 912 female faculties and 18,879 female students of both Gandhinagar and kadi campus.

Honourable president Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya Shree Vallabh bhai M. Patel sir granted Rs.17,69,062 to conduct the activities of women development cell.

Women Development Cell presents the “Mahila Gaurav Award” which includes a cash prize of ₹25,000. This award is given to one female student of both Gandhinagar and kadi campus seperatly,  who has shown outstanding performance in academics, co-curricular activities, extracurricular engagements, or has actively participated in various university-run cells. WDC KSV organizes one day picnic for staff .

The Women Development Cell (WDC) of Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya has been consistently working toward empowering women students and faculty members through a wide range of educational, social, and creative activities. With a strong emphasis on gender equality, social awareness, and holistic development, WDC organized several workshops, seminars, competitions, and celebrations across both Gandhinagar and Kadi campuses in the academic year 2023–2024.

This annual report summarises the diverse events conducted, their objectives, reach, and impact on the beneficiaries, showcasing how these initiatives have contributed to the intellectual and personal growth of the participants.

List of events done throughout the year

1 . Awareness Program on NRI Marriages – Do’s and Don’ts : An Awareness Program on “NRI Marriages – Do’s and Don’ts” was organized by the Women Development Cell on 16th August 2023 at Brahmaani Krupa Hall, Sector-23, Gandhinagar. The session was conducted from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and witnessed the active participation of 296 female students from various colleges. The primary objective of the program was to educate young women about the legal, social, and emotional aspects related to NRI marriages, which have increasingly become a matter of concern due to rising cases of fraud and abandonment. This insightful session aimed to sensitize young women about the challenges, rights, and legal implications of marrying a Non-Resident Indian (NRI). It focused on key issues such as legal rules, stress management, emotional well-being, and understanding the realities behind glamourized NRI proposals.Renowned speakers including Dr. Prachi Motiyani, Mr. Siddharth Kheskani, Dr. Kamyani Mathur, and Dr. Divya Raviya delivered practical advice and highlighted real-life case studies. The session empowered students with the knowledge to make informed marital decisions and helped them understand the importance of psychological readiness and legal awareness before entering such unions.

2.Beauty Care Workshop: A Beauty Care Workshop was organized by the Women Development Cell at both  campuses—Gandhinagar and Kadi. At gandhinagar, the workshop was held from 31st August to 2nd September 2023 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, benefiting 50 students. At Kadi, it was conducted on 19th September 2023 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with 40 students participating. The sessions focused on basic skin care, makeup techniques, and hairstyling, aiming to boost self-grooming and confidence. The workshop received positive feedback and encouraged personal care awareness among students. The workshop focused on basic skin care, makeup techniques, and hairstyling. It was facilitated by Ms. Tanviben, a professional beautician and proprietor of Rangoli Beauty Salon, Gandhinagar. The sessions offered hands-on training and self-grooming tips, fostering confidence and skill development among the participants.

3. Seminar on Superstitions and Orthodox Beliefs: The Women Development Cell organized an enlightening seminar on “Superstitions and Orthodox Beliefs Prevailing in Society” to create awareness among students and promote scientific thinking. The seminar was conducted at both campus —Gandhinagar and Kadi. At Brahmani Krupa Hall, Sector-23, Gandhinagar, the seminar took place on 1st February 2023 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and was attended by 293 students. The second session was held at the Indoor Sports Auditorium, S.V. Campus, Kadi, on 23rd December 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, benefitting 286 students.The sessions aimed to dispel baseless superstitions and highlight their impact on social progress. Mr. Anil Patel from the Nisarg Community Center, Gandhinagar , served as the resource person, delivering thought-provoking insights into the roots of superstitions and the need for scientific reasoning. He emphasized how such beliefs often hinder personal and societal development and encouraged students to question irrational customs and adopt a rational, evidence-based approach to life. Interactive discussions and real-life examples made the session highly engaging and informative. The seminar successfully sensitized students to the importance of breaking free from unscientific traditions and embracing progressive values for a more enlightened society.

4. Poetry Writing Competition: A Poetry Writing Competition was organized on 4th December 2023 at Gandhinagar under the initiative of the Women Development Cell. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 50 students who showcased their creativity and poetic expression. The competition aimed to enhance literary interest and highlight the importance of poetry as a medium of emotional and intellectual expression. Renowned poet and GTPL Director, Mr. Shaileshbhai Pandya, served as the resource person, inspiring students with his insights on literature and poetry. The event proved to be a valuable platform for budding poets to express themselves artistically.

5. Seminar on ” Me and My Society “: A seminar was organized on 20th December 2023 at the Indoor Sports Auditorium,  Kadi. The session was attended by 400 first-year female students from various undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The objective was to make students aware of societal values, responsibilities, and their role in preserving and strengthening the social fabric. BK Sangeeta Didi from the Brahmakumari Samaj, Kadi, was the resource person who delivered an inspiring talk on the importance of women in shaping moral values and building a harmonious society. The session was impactful and thought-provoking.The seminar emphasized the role of women in preserving societal values and building a better community. The session resonated deeply with students, sparking insightful discussions on ethics and social responsibilities.

6. National Women’s Day Celebration: The Women Development Cell successfully organized the National Women’s Day celebration on 13th February 2024 at two campuses—Gandhinagar and Kadi. The theme revolved around Smt. Sarojini Naidu, celebrating her contributions as a freedom fighter and advocate for women’s empowerment. Students performed dramas, mimes, mono-acts, and fusion dances portraying her life and achievements. The event was enriched by insights from Bhagvatiben Patel, Komalben, and Dr. Ratan B. Solanki At the Gandhinagar campus, the event was held in the Brahmani Krupa Hall from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with 292 students participating. Simultaneously, the Kadi campus hosted the celebration where 254 students have attended the program . The event aimed to honour and recognize the achievements and contributions of women in society, promoting awareness about women’s rights, gender equality, and empowerment.

7.  Activities for Society – Alkh Jagao Campaign :The “Alkh Jagao” campaign was conducted from 14th to 15th February 2024 at Indroda village from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. A total of 50 students from KSV actively participated in organizing impactful social awareness activities such as rallies, street plays, seminars, and workshops. These efforts reached and benefited around 438 villagers. The campaign aimed to sensitize the rural community on important societal issues, promoting awareness and civic responsibility. The initiative successfully bridged the gap between academia and society, while enhancing students’ leadership and community engagement skills through real-world outreach experiences. This community outreach initiative demonstrated the University’s commitment to social responsibility. The “Alkh Jagao” campaign at Indroda Gaam included a variety of student-led programs like:

  • Street plays and rallies
  • Awareness seminars and workshops on health, hygiene, women’s rights, and education

The campaign received active participation from residents across the village, amplifying its impact. Students took the lead in organizing and performing various activities under the guidance of faculty mentors, showcasing leadership, empathy, and civic engagement.

This campaign not only created meaningful change in the rural community but also helped students realize their potential as agents of social transformation.

8. ” Kavyaheli – Women Poets’ Meet ”  :On 27th February 2024, the Women Development Cell organized ” Kavyaheli – Women Poets’ Meet ”  at Brahmani Krupa Hall from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 294 attendees, including students and faculty. The poetic recitations reflected diverse themes such as womanhood, empowerment, emotions, and society, creating a thought-provoking and inspiring atmosphere. This unique poetry meet, organized in collaboration with GTPL Gujarati Channel, celebrated female literary voices. Prominent poets such as Prajnaben Vashi, Prajnaben Patel, Harshidaben Trivedi, and Varshaben Prajapati shared their powerful compositions. Mr. Shaileshbhai Pandya and Mr. Jayendrabhai, Admin Head of GTPL, were special guests. The session showcased the creativity and cultural heritage upheld by women writers.

9. International Women’s Day Celebration: The Women Development Cell celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm across both Gandhinagar and Kadi campuses, honoring the invaluable contributions of women in academia and society. The celebration at Gandhinagar was held on 9th March 2024 at Nathiba Hall, Sector-23, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and was attended by 560 female faculty members. Prior to this, on 7th March 2024, the Kadi campus conducted its celebration at the Indoor Sports Auditorium, S.V. Campus, where 240 female faculty members participated. Through engaging and inclusive activities, the celebration fostered a spirit of unity and recognition among the participants. Overall, the International Women’s Day celebrations were impactful and uplifting, reflecting the commitment of the Women Development Cell towards empowering women and reinforcing their pivotal role in academic and social spheres.Celebrated with joy and enthusiasm, the event involved interactive games, dance performances, and cultural exchanges. It was a day of bonding, appreciation, and recognition of the contributions of women educators. Sessions were coordinated by Pranali Ma’am, Mukti Ma’am, and Ms. Revati Deshpande, who encouraged women to celebrate their strength and achievements.

10. Staff Picnic (Faculty Engagement Activity)

To encourage relaxation, bonding, and wellness among staff members, the WDC organized picnics for both teaching and non-teaching staff during the academic year.These recreational outings allowed faculty members to unwind from academic responsibilities and helped promote team spirit, stress reduction, and work-life balance—an often-overlooked component of women’s development in the workplace

The Women Development Cell (WDC) of Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya successfully conducted a diverse array of activities during 2023–2024, reaching over 2400 students and faculty members. From skill development workshops and social awareness seminars to literary events and celebratory functions, every initiative was aligned with the cell’s mission to empower, educate, and engage women in meaningful ways.
